Enjoyed by people of all ages, disc golf is a fun and challenging sport that is much like traditional golf but without the greens fee, cart rental, and bad "tee times". Played with a flying disc or Frisbee, the object of the game is to complete each "hole" in the fewest number of strokes. The "holes" in disc golf are low posts supporting a 3-foot chain basket. Just like regular golf, there are varying yardages from each tee and obstacles such as trees, shrubs, and terrain changes that make the game even more exciting.
Fortunately for residents of Coconut Creek, Tradewinds Park has an 18-cource for disc golf play. Simply bring your own disc and pencil to keep score and stop by the park office to pick up a score card. Admission is free, except on weekends and holidays when the fee is $1.50 per person. The course is open from 8am to 6pm daily.
Tradewinds Park also has a number of other activities available on its premises. Playgrounds, baseball fields, jogging/biking paths and nature trails are just some of the other great amenities available at the 627-acre regional park. Tradewinds Park is located at 3600 W. Sample Road in Coconut Creek. For more information on Tradewinds Park, call 954-968-3880 or click here.
