Posted in Leave a comment »Coconut Creek Events: European Charity Band To Perform June 5thThe City of Coconut Creek Parks & Recreation Department will be hosting The European Charity Band, consisting of student musicians from North Broward Preparatory School and from Meritas schools around the nation on Friday, June 5, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Band Shell at the Coconut Creek Community Center (1100 Lyons Road). The European Charity Band will give the home crowd a little taste of what the Band will be performing as they tour Europe this summer. Musical selections range from Jazz, Bach and the Beatles, to Broadway and Rock & Roll. Under the direction of Tour Director Danny Lieberman, the European Charity Band is comprised of select students from North Broward Preparatory School, who will visit London, Berlin, Brussels, Budapest,Amsterdam, Bratislava and Vienna. Lieberman, who is also the Vice President of Fine Arts for Meritas International Schools and North Broward Preparatory School in Coconut Creek, has been leading students throughout Europe for two decades. The tour is part of the efforts of International Make-A-Wish and this is the 12th year that Lieberman is coordinating and leading a group of teens who will share the gift of music. As an added treat, 80 students from the Meritas schools will be flying into Florida to travel and perform with the NBPS students. These students will be coming from Mexico, Texas, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and The concert is free to the public and will begin at 7:00 p.m. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs for your seating comfort. Leave a comment »Coconut Creek Events: 14th Annual Coconut Creek Golf TournamentLooking to play a game of golf for a great cause? On Friday, May 15th, the Palm-Aire Country Club will be hosting the 14th Annual Coconut Creek Golf Tournament. A portion of the proceeds from the tournament will be donated to Food for the Poor "Haiti Relief". This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Coconut Creek and support a wonderful charity. On tournament day, registration and lunch will take place at 11:30am. The tournament itself will begin at 1:15pm with dinner and awards immediately following the first round of golf. Registration, lunch, and dinner will take place at the Oaks Clubhouse located at 3701 Oak Clubhouse Dr in the Palm-Aire Country Club. The golf tournament will be played on the Cypress Course, a beautiful 18-hole course known for its beauty and great challenge. Leave a comment »Coconut Creek Events: Home Grown Concert Featuring Magic Bus This Friday!City of Coconut Creek Parks & Recreation Dept. presents Magic Bus as part of the Home Grown concert series on Friday, May 8. The concert will take place at the Promenade at Coconut Creek, located on the corner of Wiles Road and Lyons Road, from 7pm to 8:30pm.
Magic Bus is a three-piece band, playing British Invasion music. The band members are Jim Rizzo on drums and vocals, Sheldon Voss on bass guitar and vocals, and Ron Tillman on guitar and vocals. All three musicians have been playing in various bands for many years at local clubs and venues in South Florida. You will enjoy music from the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Who, and the early '60's.
The Home Grown concert happens the second Friday of each month, featuring a different performer and a variety of music styles. The concerts are free to the public and begin at 7pm. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs for your seating comfort as chairs will not be provided. Refreshments will be available for purchase from restaurants located at the Promenade at Coconut Creek. Parking is available in the parking garage and within the Promenade.

Leave a comment »Coconut Creek Events: Free 3D Movie Event & Dinosaur Dig at Sabal Pines ParkKick off the summer with a free showing of Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D!
When: Saturday, June 6 at 8:15 pm Where: Sabal Pines Park, 5005 NW 39 Avenue
Bring your own blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the show. 3D glasses will be provided and refreshments will be available for purchase. Prior to the movie, a dinosaur dig will be held for children 10 & under. To participate, you must pre-register for the dig at the Recreation Complex or Community Center between May 4 and June 4. The dig begins at 7:30 pm and space is limited to the first 100 registrations.

Synopsis:
Professor Trevor Anderson receives his teenager nephew Sean Anderson. He will spend ten days with his uncle while his mother, Elizabeth, prepares to move to Canada. She gives a box to Trevor that belonged to his missing brother, Max, and Trevor finds a book with references to the last journey of his brother. He decides to follow the steps of Max with Sean and they travel to Iceland, where they meet the guide Hannah Ásgeirsson. While climbing a mountain, there is a thunderstorm and they protect themselves in a cave. However, a lightening collapses the entrance and the trio is trapped in the cave. They seek an exit and falls in a hole, discovering a lost world in the center of the Earth.
